Your online ETA application will be accessed by the Australian Immigration Department – Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The Australian Immigration Department issues ETAs electronically through a computer system.
Subclass 601 is another name for the Electronic Visa Authority (ETA). This (ETA) Visa is not your standard visa, however it can be used to visit Australia. You are not need to stamp or label your passport in order to obtain the visa. Travel agents and airlines can provide you with an ETA. You are not required to submit your application at an Australian diplomatic office.
Applicants from the 45 eVisitor and ETA-eligible countries may apply online for short tourist or business visits in Australia. All other passport holders are also eligible to apply for an Australian visa for extended visits. Visitors can now apply for a visitor visa through the Australia Immigration Department. It has taken the place of the previous Australian tourist visa. Visiting visas are classified differently based on the purpose of the stay and the applicant’s nationality. Visitors on a visiting visa may stay for three, six, or twelve months for single or repeated entries, according to Australian Immigration.
Those who qualify for the visiting visa must also meet the conditions for the Australia visa. A valid passport, supporting documents based on the purpose of the visa, and a valid photograph are required.

Australian Visit Visas Requirement
An Australian tourist visa application requires the following documents:
- Valid passports from a particular country’
- A debit/credit card
- An email address
Australian Visit Visa (ETA Visa) Application Processing
It is simple to submit an ETA application. Its processing is easy and quick. You only need to fill out the online application form with all of your information. The information you input must match the information on your passport. Enter the credit card information as well. And then submit your application. It will be processed immediately! All approved online applications are electronically recorded on the Australian government’s computers.
Other processing information on the airport while you arrive to board your flight to Australia are also electronically verified. The airport staff electronically validates your check-in and confirms that you have permission to board the flight.
On average, ETA will handle your application within 24 hours.
If you are unable to submit an online application, eligible passport holders may also apply in person. The application should be submitted to a travel agency, airline, or specialized service provider. Furthermore, these offices must be located outside of Australia.
Not all countries are eligible for a category 601 or ETA visa. Before you apply, check the Australian Immigration Department’s website for your Country.
The ETA Visit Visa does not require you to meet the requirements of an Australian Immigration point calculator.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To meet the requirements for a tourist visa, you will need to prove to the immigration authorities the following things:
- Valid Passport
- Health Insurance
- You have no criminal record
- Proof of financial support - Sufficient Bank Balance
- You have a residency outside of the intended visiting country and other ties that will assure your return home following your travel to the intended country
- You desire to stay in the nation of your choice for a defined and limited time
- You intend to leave the intended country at the end of your visit
- You represent no security risk
- You agree to follow the laws of the land
- You have no intention of seeking or accepting employment while in the intended country
